We base this claim because we did not simply use thicker material we also added gusseting to the cross member. Often times due to someone attaching a snatch strap or chain to the thin factory Jeep cross member. Other cases have been due to rust. Either way the Motobilt rear cross member is a great alternative to simply installing a factory cross member. The Motobilt cross member is fabricated from heavy duty 3\/16 inch steel plate.
