The Motobilt Front Half Frame Kit for Jeep TJ, LJ, and YJ is a weld-on front frame replacement designed for builders transforming their Jeep into a serious off-road machine. This kit replaces the front portion of the factory frame with a stronger structure that provides the space and geometry needed for large axles, long travel suspension, and aggressive rock crawling setups. 

When upgrading to heavy-duty front axles and running larger 40”–42” tires, many builders move the front axle forward to increase suspension up-travel and improve vehicle stability by extending the wheelbase. The Motobilt front half frame kit is designed specifically for this type of build, providing the clearance needed for a true 4-link front suspension system while allowing the vehicle to maintain a lower center of gravity for better performance on the trail. 

The frame structure uses a boxed C-channel design constructed from 3/16” thick steel that is laser cut and CNC press brake formed. The frame rails lap over portions of the factory frame and are welded permanently into place, creating a strong transition between the original frame and the new front structure. Integrated weep holes in the inner plates help with drainage and cleaning after trail use. 

The kit also incorporates an integrated front bumper and winch mount capable of supporting large winches such as the Warn Zeon 12S or similar. The winch mount is recessed to protect the winch while allowing airflow to the radiator. Recovery points are built into the design with 3/4” thick steel D-ring mounts that extend back into the frame structure for additional strength. 

A lower fairlead opening beneath the winch allows the winch line to run directly down to the axle. This technique is commonly used by experienced rock crawlers to pull the front suspension down when climbing steep obstacles, helping shift the vehicle’s center of gravity and increase traction. 

The up-swept frame design also dramatically improves the Jeep’s approach angle. With the frame rails rising upward at the front, the front tires become the first point of contact when approaching obstacles instead of the frame or bumper.
