When you contact a trail obstacle, the forces are transferred directly to the frame instead of the body of your vehicle. On the tubing side of the frame mount the surface area is spread out to 3 times what tube to tube would offer. They are shipped bare steel.  Installing them will require welding and painting. If you opt to powder coat them test fit and know where you are going to put them to reduce chances of scratching them.  Once powder coated you will need to grind the powder off of the edges that weld to the frame.  After welding simply paint this area.
